I recently finished reading Grant Cordone’s book, “Be Obsessed or Be Average” and I have to tell you all about that. What I can tell you straight off the bat is you will feel like you’ve been kicked in the pants. It’s that powerful!
So, in the book, Grant talks all about obsession and different aspects of it. He discusses what it means to him, how it saved his life and then explains how to channel passion in all aspects of running an organization, from leadership, recruiting, hiring and firing, distribution, to culture development, and more.
But what I want to focus on is his particular obsession with paid media and advertisements. Grant’s top rule for paid ads is, “be willing to risk waste to grow” and I love that mantra!
Grants says that not all assets would or should have measurable or trackable returns. He thinks ROI is a fib that low-level businessmen talk about so they don’t have to invest money in their business.
His own philosophy is one of no regret: he doesn’t regret spending any money on advertising and claims he would do it again and again.
I am all for these claims because they have worked really well for me. I managed to scale my business from zero to millions just because of this philosophy!
Why I Believe in Paid Advertising
- Here’s what I did to achieve that: I completely went in on paid marketing. I vowed to outspend all the rivals, no matter how bad the “numbers” were earlier on. I was going to win through sheer force if not by finesse. And it did work. Our business was blanking out the site. There we were, no matter where you looked. And it only kept increasing. We caught people’s attention relentlessly.
Now that you’ve read Grant’s essential belief, here’s what you should take away from all of this. It might seem scary, risky and you might not want to take the plunge. But really, what are you actually saving by not spending? The more you invest, the more you will get back. But you have to be ready to start this process.
Because anyone can grind and hustle and make a few dollars through organic means. It actually takes a lot of strategizing, funds allocation and media buying to get the word out and make those serious bucks.
Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself. Be obsessed. And then watch how your business turns right around!
